About this deal

That’s particularly true with In for a Penny which was an interesting concept to create a board game around.

James is a champion for us and although the world is hard, having a sense of humour helps us get through. IMPORTANT: The Promotion is subject to these Specific Rules and the General Terms and Conditions which are available here (together, the ‘Promotion Terms and Conditions’). In this podcast series you’ll hear from offenders, the police, crime experts and investigators as we delve into the workings of the criminal mind. He was delighted with everything we suggested, but then his daughters scrutinised our proposal – and they’re not as forgiving as James! The objective is to get the other players to believe your own false answers to gain maximum points, while answering questions correctly yourself. No nonsense LBC Radio host James O’Brien first came to my attention during one of the pandemic’s many lockdowns. Most formats for the board games are easily adapted from the TV concepts… But we work with designers who’ve worked on most of the past and present games in the UK market to seek an interesting twist. The podcast also included conversations with experts and victims, looking at how societal views, misogyny and popular media tropes may be enabling stalkers to commit crimes without intervention.

The host can also score two points from each player who chooses their invented answer as the correct answer. If such a winner does not respond within 24 hours from being contacted, they will forfeit their right to the prize and we shall be entitled to select another winner. The Mystery Hour Board Game won’t change the world but for fans of trivia or those simply looking for a casual family game that will teach you interesting things and ignite discussion, this game certainly deserves a round of applause.Psyching an opponent out by claiming you know an answer for 3 points before hearing the options (even though you don’t) can work in your favour at critical points in the game. As our group played, it became clear that some of the cards are very subjective in their wording (“Does mixing drinks get you drunk faster?

before or during the Promotion, you may be disqualified and we reserve the right to select another entrant to participate in the Promotion or withdraw the prize and select another winner, as applicable.

This flip of a coin approach to trivia hardly emulates the sixty minutes of intellectual stimulation that fans of O’Brien’s Mystery Hour have come to know and love.

She dismissed it at first, but then the appearances became more and more frequent and noticeable - he was there when she met friends, when she travelled across London, at her local train station, and even when he followed her home.

This makes committing to answers for 3 points not as high stakes as it seems - a big payoff, but little to lose by sticking your head above the parapet. Our group did spot one glaring omission in the rules though: there is no penalty attached to incorrectly guessing an answer before the correct and false answers are revealed. We reserve the right to substitute the prize with another prize of equal or greater value at our absolute discretion. There may even be some joy to be had for Mystery Hour anoraks in coming up with their own questions and answers, perhaps even using podcasts of past Mystery Hour episodes to prolong the experience. We may publish and publicise your name, your nearest geographical location (for example, your nearest city, town or county) and your entry, and we may refer to your association with the Promotion and/or the prize, in any and all media, worldwide, in perpetuity, for publicity and PR purposes solely in connection with the Promotion.
