Description

This young boy happens to ride his chopper past the job centre during Pauline's siege. She yells her demands and asks him to go find Inspector Cox, not noticing that the boy wears a hearing-aid and cannot hear what she's saying. ROSS LOOKS AWAY, IGNORING HER. SHE SLOWLY GETS TO HER FEET, UNSTEADILY. THEN, REMEMBERING IT’S A ROLEPLAY, BRIGHTENS UP.

Pauline is the evil restart officer who loves to belittle and berate her "job seekers". Her friends are her pens. As horrible as she is, you cannot help but feel sorry for her whenever she's hurt (probably due to Steve's excellent portrayal). Her dream is to open a pen shop (called "Her Nibs"). Played with gurning relish by Steve Pemberton, the psychotic fictional equivalent became a source of some of the show’s biggest laughs. But there was a darker, more scathing edge behind the gags. Christmas special: " Yule Never Leave!" (Dyson, Gatiss, Pemberton and Shearsmith) (aired 27 December 2000) Alright, I’m going to say some other words to you now, and I want you to reply wth the first thing that comes into your head, alright? The League of Gentlemen: Live at Drury Lane (Dyson, Gatiss, Pemberton and Shearsmith) (performed 2001)SHE TURNS THE DIAL RIGHT UP. THE PRESSURE GAUGE GOES INTO THE RED, AND SUDDENLY THE TORTOISE SEEMS TO EXPLODE OUT OF IT’S SHELL AND CRASHES THROUGH THE WINDOW. DR. CHINNERY IS LEFT HOLDING ONTO THE SMOKING SHELL OF THE TORTOISE. THE REVERAND, BERNICE WOODALL, CONDUCTS A SERVICE. THERE IS ABOUT FIVE PEOPLE IN THE CONGREGATION. SHE SEEMS TO HATE PREACHING, AND LOOKS MISERABLE WHEN THE CONGREGATION DON’T RESPOND WITH ENTHUSIASM. Pauline fits neatly into that equation. A harsh, unhelpful bully of the unemployed who ultimately becomes a victim of the very same uncaring and judgemental society.

Series 3, episode 6: " How the Elephant Got Its Trunk" (Dyson, Gatiss, Pemberton and Shearsmith) (aired 31 October 2002)

Series 3, episode 1: " The Lesbian and the Monkey" (Dyson, Gatiss, Pemberton and Shearsmith) (aired 26 September 2002) Series 3, episode 5: " Beauty and the Beast (Or, Come into My Parlour)" (Dyson, Gatiss, Pemberton and Shearsmith) (aired 24 October 2002) Away from its clear Hammer Horror influences, The League of Gentlemen has always revelled in a kind of everyday pathos in many of its characters. Perhaps you’re a naturally slothful person, sluggish and indolent. A dawdling flaneur, content to waste his life spread-eagled on pillows, forever indulging himself in the pleasures of the palm. I just don’t know… Series 1, episode 1: " Welcome to Royston Vasey" (Dyson, Gatiss, Pemberton and Shearsmith) (aired 11 January 1999)

Series 1, episode 6: " Escape from Royston Vasey" (Dyson, Gatiss, Pemberton and Shearsmith) (aired 15 February 1999) The interview for "pushing trolleys around ASDA car park" is also based in reality. Apparently Reece applied for the job, but was told he was too clever for it. They told him that his personality would disgruntle the other workers. GEOFF, MIKE AND BRIAN WALK DOWN AN ALLEY AND ONTO THE MAIN ROAD, TOWARDS A PUB. AT THE SAME TIME, SOME WORKMEN EXIT A BUILDING AND MAKE THEIR WAY TO IT. Untitled article (article reproduced from Irish Times, Brian Boyd, published 5 May 2001) (archived on virtualvasey.lofg.com, retrieved 26 July 2013)Series 1, episode 2: " The Road to Royston Vasey" (Dyson, Gatiss, Pemberton and Shearsmith) (aired 18 January 1999) I even thought about going to Casablanca to have it done, but…I’d have been butchered. It happened to a friend of mine, Julia. Besides, I’m not supposed to fly after the implants – there’s a danger of the bust imploding. Series 2, episode 3: A Plague on Royston Vasey" (Dyson, Gatiss, Pemberton and Shearsmith) (aired 4 February 2000) Series 2, episode 5: " Anarchy in Royston Vasey" (Dyson, Gatiss, Pemberton and Shearsmith) (aired 11 February 2000) In an age when Britain’s convoluted, punishing benefits system is forcing people into food poverty, Universal Credit has come under fire and even Job Centres themselves are being closed in the name of austerity, Pauline’s attitude to the unemployed has never been more ripe for a return to our screens.

SUDDENLY, HE TAKES HOLD OF HIS PENIS AND STARTS URINATING INTO THE GLASS THAT BENJAMIN IS HOLDING. BENJAMIN REACTS AND TRIES TO CATCH ALL THE URINE IN THE GLASS WITHOUT SPILLING ANY. Er, that is right. I’m very interested, yes. I feel that my ability to work well as part of a team, and yet to take individual responsibility, are important factors in a job of this nature. Ultimately designed by Yves Barre, multiple attempts were made at determining what her costume should be. Pemberton stated "the simpler, the better" was the approach they took in the end. Shearsmith described it as a "Mark's and Spencer's look," while Barre, noted she appeared as if she worked in a building society. [20] Sexuality [ ]Pauline was initially performed on stage, appearing in the writers' very first show, even before they took on the name of The League of Gentlemen as a sketch based around job ideas [20] - later adapted into the television series. [1] When it came to writing the television series, despite there being ample material for Pauline, Pemberton stated they did not know how to begin her scenes. While filming the first series, Pemberton developed the "chunter", which is what he named Pauline's twitching of her lips. [20] Character design [ ] Series 3, episode 3: " Turn Again Geoff Tipps" (Dyson, Gatiss, Pemberton and Shearsmith) (aired 10 October 2002) A woman would not stop saying “Trump” over and over. It was weird but also funny; we turned it into kind of a sample, like she was singing the hook in a rap song. The funniest meal I’ve ever eaten The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse (Universal Pictures) (Dyson, Gatiss, Pemberton and Shearsmith) (released 3 June 2005)
